Current status of the project

So, how are we approaching this.

We're working with Unity 6 (version 6000.0.25f1 to be precise!) and have separated tasks among ourselves :

  • Orange Scarf is managing our project and also does dev tasks with a focus on the narration and physics modules.
  • Red Hat is working on the UI design and implementation, and she also just started tasks about sounds & music.
  • Green Jacket is our visual artist and is currently making assets to replace the placeholders we've been using for now. He also worked with Red Hat on UI design, and UX in general.
  • And then there's me, Blue Sneakers. I'm in charge of the code architecture, modules integration and I'm also doing more specific dev tasks on the gameplay loop system and the game rules module.

These are obviously just guidelines and we still work together at times on specific things, to back each other up or give feedback. For instance, the game design in general has been done as a group and we frequently discuss design ideas together.

But where are we right now, you say!

Well, this is still very early stage so we don't have much to show at the moment since it's all placeholders BUT we have a working basic gameplay loop :

  • We can launch the game from a menu
  • The UI allows us to play
  • The physics works (balls are colliding and can be pocketed)
  • Collisions are being recorded for prophecies purpose
  • Turns alternate between the 2 players
  • Rules are being applied after each shot (only checking for white or black ball pocketing for now)
  • The game can end on a victory or a defeat

Here is a screenshot of the game view. Please don't mind the look of it, it's literally 100% placeholder! It'll give a rather good idea of what you'll you see as you play though. The billiard table from a top down perspective, and 2 opposing panels on each side displaying information about the players
