Some info about the characters !

When designing Clotho and Atropos, we wanted to make sure their design, demeanour and overall personality matched their role in Greek mythology, especially when it comes to how they affect life.

Additionally, the two needed to look very different, not just for character design purposes, but also to make sure the players can identify them clearly, since their portraits don’t take a lot of space on the game’s interface. And finally, we wanted to give ourselves space to design Lachesis in the future, and made sure our choices for Clotho and Atropos could allow the three sisters to stand out without having redundant features or personality traits.

As a result, Clotho, spinner of life, and youngest of the Moirai, embodies gentle indulgence and serene optimism. Her colour palette uses a lot of desaturated greens and yellows, to evoke calmness and growth. She appreciates life, and wishes for people to live undisturbed, happy lives, and likes to have fun herself when she can.

As the youngest of the 3, Clotho has rather youthful features, with a rounded face and soft eyes. She has flowing, coordinated movements that emphasize her serene nature.

Clotho’s attire is mostly made of long clothes, made of lightweight fabrics, like linen or silk, decorated with lace and ruffles. We want to give her an ethereal, flowing silhouette, symbolizing life’s extension. She also wears long earrings and ribbons, that add some delicate and whimsical touches to her clothes.

Clotho likes dresses, long skirts, and high knee socks, and wears shoes that resemble penny loafers. Her accessories are long, and usually tied into knots, weaved, or sewed, to mirror her wish to weave destinies and extend life in the game.

Atropos, on the other hand, is the one who cuts the thread, the inevitable ender of life. She’s severe, authoritative, and mostly indifferent to humans.

While Atropos doesn’t like humans, she doesn’t like death either. She simply wishes to do her job with efficiency and precision, without thinking too hard about it. Atropos is laconic and practical, and seems to hold some authority over the sweet, mellow Clotho, who's younger and less factual than her.

Atropos’s palette uses a lot of dark reds and oranges, conveying authority, intensity, and finality. She has aged, angular features, such as sharp eyes and an elongated jaw, and has rigid movements and a detached demeanour.

She wears structured, heavy fabrics, such has leather or wool, with metallic accents, like buckles and zippers. These textures and accents reflect her decisive, unyielding role, but also her practical eye, preferring zipper pockets, durable denim, warm wool and sturdy leather over decoration. Consequently, Athropos wears a warm, thick sweater, with a long leather jacket, and black denim pants.

In terms of accessories and shoes, Atropos wears some minimalist jewellery, such as geometric studs, very simple rings, and utilitarian footwear that look like Doc Martens boots. She also owns a pair of glasses, that she wears to cut threads with extra precision.

Clotho’s desire for peaceful continuity and fun often clashes with Atropos’ impulse to get the job done. The stark contrast between the two sisters causes their relationship to hinge a lot on compromise, especially in the absence of Lachesis, who usually acts as a mediator and a voice of reason.
